GPSLog Labs

GPSLog Labs let's you analyse, map, graph, compare and report on
activity you record with a GPS logger.

You can use it to track your exercise and training (riding, running, hiking...) and/or as a diary to automatically record your day to day activity.

Add height from global earth height map

Since my GPS logger is so bad that it can't report height accurately, it would be great if there would be a filter that adds height for each xy point instead of recorded height.

Can't recognize my logger file format. Logger BTGP-38KM

Says "It's possible that it is a valid file format (such as KML) that doesn't contain any timestamped data", but i know timestamps are in it. It's can be non-standard binary data. Sample file: http://ubuntuone.com/p/Y5X/ (.dat, and same track in...

I'd be interested in having heartrate and speed info combined to give some sense of running efficiency, vO2, etc.

By combining heart rate and speed it should be possible to see if my running economy is improving as I train, and also how it varies with distance.

Ability sharing full track

Hi! What about sharing full track not only activity and setting tag on full track? Thank you.
Response from the site administrator
tompaton, 11.05.2013
If you want you can click the "Remove automatic edits" button on the "Edit Processed Activity" tab of the uploaded log file page to easily remove all the segments and turn the full track into a single activity (see http://blog.gpsloglabs.com/updates-for-september-2nd-95408 for more details.)

If you want separate activity segments still, you can share more than one of them on a single page by embedding the graphs and maps into a blog page (see http://blog.gpsloglabs.com/embedding-maps-and-graphs-in-your-site for more details.)

Auto detection of ski slopes vs lifts

Between 2 stops in a track, you could detect if elevation is constantly increasing or decreasing. Decreasing elevation is ski/board, increasing elevation is lift. Then time and speeds could be measured for ski only, or for ski and lift...

Speed on track do not correct

At a guess I'd say the other sites and apps are performing some smoothing and cleanup of the raw data before they display it.

You can do the same thing in GPSLog Labs if you wish, see http://blog.gpsloglabs.com/new-gps-track-filters for some details. You may want to add a Speed filter to discard points with speeds you could never physically achieve, or you could add a Speed Median filter to smooth the resulting speed graph without discarding the points.

However, without seeing your data it's hard to tell, please email it to tom@gpsloglabs.com if you'd like me to look into it further.

Is it possible to see all my tracks and places on one interactive map?

It would also useful to be able to select tracks and places from the interactive map. Then the selected entities could be used to show statistics/export as csv or gpx/etc

Sorry, the button has moved since the screenshots in the blog post were taken.

You can find the Share controls in the right hand side panel on the activity detail page, see http://blog.gpsloglabs.com/post_images/activity-panel-share.png

Once you click that, hopefully the rest is self explanatory, but the following blog posts contain more details if you need them: http://blog.gpsloglabs.com/tag/sharing.html

Unfortunately, KML files are not really supported by GPSLog Labs (or the GPSBabel program we rely on to handle the many formats we do accept.)

You can use http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/ to convert your KML file to a GPX and then upload that or better still, use an app that saves your data in GPX format, which is the standard for transferring between devices and applications.

If you're good with Python, Ruby or Perl, you may be able to write a script to convert your KML file to a simpler CSV which will be supported by GPSLog Labs.

Hi Igor,

GPSLog Labs is designed to automate as much editing of your tracks as possible, and moving individual points is kind of the opposite of that. You should try and use filters that fix general problems (like points that are way too fast, or areas where you consistently get bad GPS signals.)

I can't see your log, it looks like you've probably changed something and will need to share it again, so it's a little hard to make a suggestion but maybe you could add a Time Filter to delete the bad point and maybe Add Waypoints to move the point back to where you want it.

That is fiddly and maybe a better option is to use another program that allows you to edit the file before uploading it to GPSLog Labs.

Click on the Organize tab, then click on your place in the Places table.

On the Place detail page you'll see an Edit link below the name, on that page you can rename it and move it if necessary.

Allow Waypoints to be added to a log, then they are downloadable in the GPX file

Garmin has this feature so that I can download the log into my Garmin fenix watch. Then as Im walking along I can see the track and waypoints (eg, start, end, mountain peak, hut, campsite, etc)

Specify map type for sharing page

Sometimes the activity is better represented by a map type. Eg hiking and satellite view.

GPSLog Labs uses http://www.gpsbabel.org/ to handle file format conversions. Please contribute your code to that project and it will be available in GPSLog Labs.
